Montana sent the first woman to Washington, D.C. in 1916. We’ll send the second woman in 2026. More than ever, we need someone working to represent and empower Montanans at the highest levels of the Federal Government.
Last week, I traveled to Washington, D.C. where I attended the Montana Coffee hour, a traditional Wednesday morning event between Montanans and their representatives in D.C.
Senator Steve Daines, both Congressmen Matt Rosendale and Ryan Zinke, and incoming Representative Troy Downing were all there.
I heard zero talk about the issues facing Montanans. Instead, the Montana delegation engaged with each other and then addressed their staffers, most of whom had never been to Montana. They took professional photos and left.
In Senior Senator Jon Tester's office later that day, I met staffers from Helena, Kalispell, Billings, and Dutton. They welcomed me as a Montana resident and offered resources as I lobby for the Indian Boarding School Program Act and final updates to the Fort Belknap Water Compact. We will miss Senator Tester.
While in Washington, I was able to speak with Sharice Davids' office about H.R. 7227, The Truth and Healing Commission Bill of the Federal Indian Boarding School Program Act. Representing Kansas, Congresswoman Davids is the author of this bill.
The bill has nearly cleared the U.S. House but we need to act now to ensure it passes before the end of the year. Too much work has been done here to abandon the legislation and have to start fresh.
Running a people-powered movement all the way to Washington, D.C. takes resources.
Every dollar you give is a direct investment in fighting for Montana's future. Together, we can bring real representation to Montana—but only if we get to work right now.
Donate $10, $25, $50, or whatever you can today to help us build this movement from the ground up. Your support will fund grassroots organizing, voter outreach, and a bold communications campaign that takes the fight to our elected representatives.
